Have I got a claim?
It is not always easy to decide if you have a claim. The Military Claims department, like the rest of the firm, offers a free telephone screening and advice service to identify whether your case warrants further investigation.
If we think that you have a potential claim, we offer you a free meeting without any obligation on you to discuss the claim and how it is to be funded, should we proceed with the claim.
1. For personal injury and medical negligence
To obtain compensation for an injury or illness, this must be caused by the mistake or 'fault' of someone else. However even if you are partly to blame, you may still have a case.
Claims must be brought within strict time limits - please see Time Limits for further information.
How much will I get?
There are two parts to compensation:
Some of the compensation covers your pain and suffering. This is assessed with the assistance of expert medical evidence.
The rest covers all your financial losses and expenses - both past and future. Your financial losses are assessed according to the evidence that we can piece together to show what you have lost. This can include loss of earnings, the cost of any care and assistance you have had and will have.
2. For an employment dispute
Discrimination Claims
Discrimination on the grounds of race, sex, disability (non-service personnel only), sexual orientation and religious belief.
Unfair Dismissal (non-service personnel only)
You may have been unfairly selected for redundancy, sacked for supposed misconduct, or dismissed for alleged poor performance. You may have been forced to resign.
How much will I get?
For discrimination claims, there is no ceiling on awards made. For unfair dismissal claims, the maximum payable is £56,000.
Claims must be brought in the Employment Tribunals within strict time limits - please see Time Limits for further information.
